Riverside to host Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social this Sunday

Families who are looking for an inexpensive, relaxing afternoon will find a lot to like at the 8
th annual Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social this Sunday, July 12, at Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing.
Admission to the event is free. Ehrler’s Ice Cream will have treats for sale, including ice cream, floats and frozen lemonade, and the event culminates with an ice cream eating contest at 3 p.m. Some activities, such as pony, horse-drawn carriage and train rides and tours of the Historic Farnsley-Moremen House, will require the purchase of a ticket for a minimal fee. Musical entertainment will also be provided by the Legendary Cruisers from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Flashpoint from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Old fashioned games, a minature train ride and a magic show will also be available throughout the afternoon.
“After eight years, this remains one of our most heavily attended and family-friendly events,” said Metro Parks Director Mike Heitz. “The backdrop of the Ohio River and all of the fun activities at the Ice Cream Social make for a great afternoon for kids of all ages.”

Take I-65 to the Gene Snyder Freeway West. Go approximately 9 miles. Take a left at the stop light onto Lower River Road. The entrance to Riverside will be on your right after about an 1/8 mile. The address is 7410 Moorman Road, Louisville, KY 40272.
