Three Metro Parks community centers still closed for repairs
Monday August 10, 2009
Three Metro Parks community centers that received minor damage from last week’s flash flooding will be closed this week so repairs can be completed, Metro Parks officials said today.
Beechmont Community Center is expected to re-open on Monday, August 17, while California and Shelby Park community centers should re-open on Tuesday, August 18. Participants in Beechmont Community Center’s senior citizen nutrition program should call the Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership at 574-6325 to make arrangements to attend a different location this week.
“We hoped all of our community centers would be back to their regular schedules this week. Over the weekend, we decided on gaining assistance from contractors to finish the cleanup at these three,” said Storch. “For the safety of our customers and employees, we need to remain closed while the cleaning and repair work are underway.”
The flood recovery effort for these three community centers should cost around $20,000, said Storch.
All other Metro Parks community centers will remain open with regular operating hours this week. For a complete listing of community centers and locations, visit http://www.louisvilleky.gov/MetroParks/communitycenters/.
