Louisville Loop Public Meeting, July 31st

Wednesday July 11, 2012

Louisville Metro Parks invites the public to participate in master planning of the Fairdale to Floyds Fork Shared-Use Path and Ecological Restoration Plan for the Louisville Loop, Tuesday, July 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Okolona Christian Church, 10801 Faithful Way, Louisville KY.

The purpose of this public meeting is to present an overview of the shared-use path, opportunities and constraints within the study area, and general concepts for ecological restoration within the Fairdale to Floyds Fork portion of the Louisville Loop.

Potential segments for the shared-use path will be presented to obtain public input. Information gathered at this meeting will influence the next step of the planning process: identification of 3 shared-use path alternative alignments and ecological restoration opportunities.

This is the second of four public meetings for the project, which will ultimately result in a recommended alignment for the Louisville Loop from Fairdale to Floyds Fork near Bardstown Road. Gaining public input is a critical step in analyzing the potential locations of the shared-use path.

The meeting will begin with an Open House from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the project presentation from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and concluding with additional Open House and discussion from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

About the Louisville Loop

When complete, the Louisville Loop will be a 100-mile shared-use path encircling Louisville, linking existing and new parks and neighborhoods to civic, business, retail and recreational attractions, while promoting healthier lifestyles by providing safe and accessible opportunities for walking, jogging, cycling and, in some areas, horseback riding.
