Roadway Access Design for McNeely Lake Park: Input Sought at May 8 Public Meeting

Friday April 27, 2012

Louisville Metro Parks is hosting a public meeting to gather input on the creation of a connector road and transportation facilities within McNeely Lake Park.  The meeting will be held Tuesday, May 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilt Elementary School, 6700 Price Lane, Louisville KY.

The objective of a roadway would be to connect Mt. Washington Road to the south and Cedar Creek Road to the east.  The focus of the meeting is how best to provide that roadway access, as well as bicycle/pedestrian facilities to the various sections of McNeely Lake Park.  Public input is sought in determining where these connections should be located and what types of architectural elements should be used for bridges, etc.

The public meeting will include several information ‘stations’, staffed by project planners and engineers, where citizens can offer input and ask questions.

About the park:
McNeely Lake Park, a 746 acre park located at 10500 Cedar Creek Road, is one of the largest in the Metro Parks system, and features a scenic 46-acre fishing lake with an accessible pier and boat ramp which is owned by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. The Korean War Memorial is also located in the park.
