Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing will host “100 Years On the Ohio” September 21 and 22 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm each day, on the grounds of the historic property located at 7410 Moorman Road.
The event offers an historical timeline experience, representing the years 1765 to 1865, where visitors will see historical re-enactors demonstrating the tools, weaponry, clothing, pastimes, and cooking of the various periods represented.
Other scheduled activities for the event include period fashion shows, children’s games, dance demonstrations, and an archery demonstration. Two historical re-enactor presentations feature the portrayal of a late 18th century doctor (hear his story and learn about medical practices of that age, and you’ll be glad to be a 21st century patient!). Another re-enactor highlight is Dennis Boggs’ portrayal of President Abraham Lincoln.
Other events include blacksmithing demonstrations, hearth cooking demonstrations, and tours of the re-enactor camps. Food vendors serving modern fare will also be present both days.
Another exciting feature of this event is an 1860’s-style baseball game between the Cincinnati Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Red Stockings at 1:00 PM on Sunday. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket to spread on the grass to have the ‘best seat in the house’ while enjoying this historic version of America’s pastime.
Admission is $6/Adults; $5/Seniors; and $3/Children per day. A family rate allows two adults with up to 3 children to enter for $15. Admission includes a tour of the centerpiece of the property, the historic Farnsley-Moremen House. This event is being held in conjunction with the Falls Landing Foundation, Inc.
