Jefferson Memorial Forest Plans Full Moon ‘Frozen’ Hike on January 26

Wednesday January 23, 2013

Jefferson Memorial Forest offers the opportunity to experience the forest as a guided hike through a crystal cathedral, with moonlight glittering on the frosty forest landscape. The first ever “Full Moon Frozen Hike” is from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 26.

Forest staff will guide hikers on their moonlit trek and, after the hike, Moon Pies and hot chocolate will be served at the Manor House, where everyone can bask in the warmth of a fire in the hearth.

There is a $6 per person fee, and pre-registration is required.  Hikers will meet in the main parking lot of the forest’s Horine section.

For hikers wishing to remain at the forest overnight to camp, the forest is offering the discounted price of $10 per family site, and $5 for 20 pieces of firewood.  Attendance at the full moon frozen hike is required to receive this camping discount.
