$50,000 UPS Grant Expands “The First Tee” Youth Program at Seneca Golf Course
A $50,000 grant from the UPS Foundation will enable The First Tee of Louisville, a life skills youth development program, to construct a youth golf course at Metro Parks’ Seneca Golf Course.

Louisville Metro Parks Achieves National Reaccreditation
Louisville Metro Parks has earned national re-accreditation, conferred by the Commission for the Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). The designation means that Metro Parks, which first earned accreditation five years ago, remains ranked among the nation’s best parks and recreation departments.
Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Hike & Outdoor Adventure at Jefferson Memorial Forest
The Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Hike and Outdoor Adventure takes place at Jefferson Memorial Forest Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come out and get your pumpkins, take a hay ride, and hike through the Forest at the height of fall color. This eighth annual hike is part of the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement, encouraging better health and wellness by highlighting opportunities for increased physical activity.
Canoe Adventures for Youth and Families: Rides Launch From Two Metro Parks
Explore the great outdoors by canoeing the Ohio River! Urban Wilderness Canoe Adventures (UWCA), in partnership with Metro Parks’ Jefferson Memorial Forest, aims to introduce youth and families to the beauty of the Ohio by offering free rides in Voyageur canoes. Rides will leave from Shawnee Park on October 5 and Riverview Park on October 6.
“Wild and Woolly In The Woods”: Zombie Hike at Jefferson Memorial Forest
Join the ranks of the ‘walking dead’ for a frightfully good time at “Wild and Woolly In The Woods”, at Jefferson Memorial Forest, October 13. It’s the second annual zombie hike at the forest and gets underway at 7 p.m. All attending are encouraged to wear their best zombie attire!
