McNeely Lake Park Road Project Groundbreaking – September 19
A ceremonial groundbreaking was held at McNeely Lake Park to launch a $5.3 million project that will see the construction of a two-mile long road and adjacent shared use path through the 750-acre south Louisville park.
Jack O' Lantern Spectacular Returns to Iroquois Park Tickets Now on Sale for October Event
Local artists will carve more than 5,000 pumpkins which will light a trail the length of five football fields at the base of Iroquois Park. Back for its second year in Louisville, the Jack O' Lantern Spectacular, sponsored by Thorntons, will take place nightly from October 9 through November 2.
Louisville ECHO Receives Major Support from U.S. Forest Service and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kent
The Louisville ECHO program (Louisville is Engaging CHildren Outdoors), Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation’s signature environmental education initiative for fourth-grade students, has received significant support this year with $41,295 in grant funding from the U.S. Forest Service, and $7,500 Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc.
Metro Parks & Recreation Launch ‘Beep’ Baseball League for Individuals with Visual Impairments
Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation has launched a Beep Baseball league, an adaptive version of America’s favorite pastime, tailored for people with visual impairments. Developed in the mid 1960’s, beep baseball takes its name from a rechargeable ‘beeping’ device fitted to the regulation 16-inch softball, so that it can be heard by players.
Annual Family-Fun Event Expands, Now Offers “200 Years on the Ohio” at Riverside, the Farnsley-Morem

Partial Demolition Work to Begin at Louisville Extreme Park

The donation of a conservation easement in Oldham County will ensure that 167 acres of scenic farmland and woodlands will remain forever protected from development. Dinwiddie Lampton III and Irene D. Lampton are donating the easement to Louisville Metro Government through the Louisville/Jefferson County Environmental Trust.
