Metro Parks and Recreation Fall Athletic Leagues Registration Now Underway
Metro Parks has begun accepting team registrations for fall athletic leagues – softball, kickball and flag football. Games begin the week of September 2. Participants must be 18 or older. Registration deadline is August 25, or until leagues are filled.

Outdoor Fun and Adventure Offered by Metro Parks at West Louisville Appreciation Festival
Nature-based adventure will be on tap at this year’s West Louisville Appreciation Days in Shawnee Park, when Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation’s Natural Areas Division and its partners, including the National Park Service and Outdoor Afro, Louisville offer all sorts of outdoor fun, Saturday, July 26, from 1 pm to 5 pm. Activities include archery, fishing demonstrations, canoeing on the Ohio River, a climbing wall, a bicycle pump track and bicycle safety tips, volunteer-led nature hikes, and more!

Partial Demolition Work to Begin at Louisville Extreme Park
Demolition work is set to begin at the Louisville Extreme Park. Approximately one-third of the park will be demolished and reconstructed on adjacent property to make way for construction of the flyover ramps that will support the new Louisville-Southern Indiana downtown bridge.

Volunteers Needed for U.S. Quad Rugby Association National Championship Tournament, In Louisville Ma
Volunteers are needed to assist as Louisville again welcomes the United States Quad Rugby Association (USQRA) National Championship Tournament. The event runs March 21-23 at the Kentucky International Convention Center, and is free and open to the public. Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation and Frazier Rehab Institute are the local co-hosts for the tournament, and 2014 marks the eighth year the tournament has been held in Louisville.

Oldham County Historic, Scenic Land Protected Through Conservation Easement
The donation of a conservation easement in Oldham County will ensure that 167 acres of scenic farmland and woodlands will remain forever protected from development. Dinwiddie Lampton III and Irene D. Lampton are donating the easement to Louisville Metro Government through the Louisville/Jefferson County Environmental Trust.
