The Welcome Center is the starting point for your Forest adventure. Pick up trail maps, information on upcoming programs, camping and Horine Reservation permits, and browse the gift shop /welcome area, before setting out to explore the Forest.
New this year at the Welcome Center we have basic supplies for fishing, camping, and hiking available for sale. So if you forgot trail snacks, charcoal, matches, hooks or sinkers, please stop by. Also new this year are two new activities for families with children: free rental of fishing poles and self-directed forest explorer kits. And as always, at the Welcome Center you may purchase a range of nature-themed books and field guides such as Tom Barnes’ Wildflowers and Ferns of Kentucky as well as nature-themed t-shirts and Forest hats and mugs for that perfect gift.
