Caperton Swamp Restoration Effort
Caperton Swamp, located at 3916 River Road, has a long history as a premier birding location, but in more recent years has been under siege by invasive plant species which are suffocating the more desirable plants. Join Metro Parks Natural Areas division in a restoration project to return this landscape to its former beauty. Volunteers will remove trash and/or assist in invasive plant removal. Water, tools and gloves are supplied. This opportunity is suitable for ages 14 and up. Youth under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Closed toe shoes are required. Contact us for planned project days or to arrange a volunteer day for your group.
The following are regularly scheduled project days for Land Stewards and Trail Team Crews. Please note that Forest Ambassadors and Program Naturalists, while active groups, do not have regularly scheduled project days that are open to the public. Approved volunteers in these areas will be given schedules and information as appropriate.
