Trail Updates
Trail Conditions (updated, Saturday, May 9):
- Trail surfaces are wet and standing water may be encountered in some low spots, as a result of recent rains. In order to prevent damage to the trails, we recommend not riding bikes and horses on the trails at this time.
- Two major log jams exist on the Otter Creek Trail as a result of last month's flooding. They exist between Garnettsville and Blue Hole. Getting around these obsructions is very difficult. Park staff is rerouting trails around the obstacles to avoid further inconvenience.
- The section of the Otter Creek Trail (below the Valley Overlook) lost due to recent flooding has been repaired.
Volunteers are needed:
- Our next volunteer trail day, is Saturday, July 19. If interested, contact the park to reserve a spot.
- We are also seeking volunteers to help maintain the trail system on an ongoing basis. Please give us a call if interested.
To report problems like downed trees across trails at Otter Creek Park, contact the park office. Try to give very specific location details like location indicator numbers from trail marker posts.

A look ahead:
- The next tree months has three prospective Eagle Scouts working on reroutes around some problem areas on both the Otter Creek Trail and the Valley Overlook trail. We are grateful for these young leaders and their fellow scouts for their help.
- We are in the final stages of completing the layout of 42 new interpretive trail signs that address many topics of the natural history of this area. We hope to have these complete and installed by the end of June. In addition, Jefferson Community College is revamping our model solar system trail and it will receive 10 new interpretive signs!
