Major Eddie Jones is currently assigned as the Commander of the Fifth Division.

In 1988, he became a sworn police officer with the Jefferson County Police Department. Jones served in the former Charlie District and the former Burglary Unit. He was a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team.

After being promoted to sergeant, Jones served in the former Burglary and Homicide Units.

As a lieutenant, Jones served as assistant commander in the former Baker and David Districts and the Second and Seventh Divisions. Jones was also Commander of the Special Victims Unit and the Public Integrity Unit.

Jones has a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Administration from the University of Louisville. He also graduated from the Southern Police Institute and the FBI National Academy.

Major Jones is the recipient of the Medal of Honor, the Exceptional Merit Medal and two Meritorious Unit Citations.
