Major Jim Sohan began his law enforcement career in 1988 with the Louisville Division of Police. He worked in the former 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Districts, CIS Robbery Unit, Street Crimes Unit and the Traffic Bureau. After merger, Sohan was assigned to the Chief's Office and as Commander of the Criminal Intelligence Unit.

On April 1, 2008, Sohan was promoted to Major and became the Commander of the Narcotics / Intelligence Division. He is currently the Commander of the Third Division.

Major Sohan received 2 Lifesaving Awards and 4 Meritorious Unit Citation Awards. He was also name Rookie of the Year in 1988.
