Major Kenton Buckner


Major Kenton Buckner began his law enforcement career in 1993 with Major Kenton Bucknerthe Louisville Division of Police (LPD). He worked in the 3rd Division, Homicide Unit, Training Academy, Public Integrity Unit and the 2nd Division. He was unit commander of the Violent Crimes Task Force. Buckner also worked in the former 5th District and Street Crimes Unit. He also served on two narcotics task forces with the former LPD.

Major Buckner is currently the Commander of the Special Operations Division and unit commander of the Honor Guard.

Major Buckner is the recipient of four Meritorious Unit Citations, Exceptional Valor and Commendable Merit. He also completed the Spanish Immersion Program and is a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council certified instructor.

Major Buckner has an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Hopkinsville Community College. From Eastern Kentucky University, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Police Administration and a Master of Science Degree in Safety, Security and Emergency Management. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute.
