Major Kim Kraeszig began her law enforcement career with the Louisville Division of Police (LPD) in September 1994. She was named "Rookie of the Year".

Major Kraeszig has served in the former Second, Third and Fourth Districts. She also served on the flex platoon in the former Third District and as the LPD's Public Information Officer. She was promoted to sergeant and commanded the former Fifth District's Flex Platoon, platoons in the former Sixth District and LMPD's First Division and Inspectional Services.

In 2005, she was promoted to lieutenant and commanded patrol sectors in LMPD's Fourth and Sixth Divisions and Major Interdiction Unit. She is currently Commander of the Administrative Services Division.

Major Kraeszig is a part of a continuing family line of law enforcement professionals.

Major Kraeszig is currently pursuing a degree in accounting.

She is married with four sons.
