Major Mark Fox is currently assigned as the Commander of the Fifth Division.
He became a police cadet with the Jefferson County Police Department (JCPD) at the age of 18. In 1985, Fox became a sworn police officer.
Fox served in all four of the former suburban districts in varying capacities. Additional assignments for Fox included the former Criminal Investigations Section and the former Public Information Office (PIO). During his stint in the PIO, Fox developed a local news segment titled, "Fugitive File".
Once promoted to sergeant, Fox commanded the former Special Investigations Unit in addition to district level assignments.
As a lieutenant, Fox was assigned to Special Operations, the Eighth Division and most recently the Third Division. Fox has been a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT). He developed the former JCPD Dignitary Protection Team and helped implement the newly merged LMPD team.
As a major, Fox commanded the Seventh Division.
Major Fox is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute.
In 1995, he was the recipient of the Medal of Honor, the department's highest award.
