Major Don Burbrink began his law enforcement career with the Louisville Division of Police (LPD) in March 1977. He was Officer of the Year in 1981 and has received the Medal of Valor.
While a member of the LPD, Major Burbrink was in the former First, Second and Fourth Districts, Intelligence, Homicide, Fraud, Internal Affairs and Narcotics. After merger, Major Burbrink was in the Crimes Against Children Section (CACS), the Criminal Investigation Section (CIS), Narcotics and is currently the Commander of the Training Division.
Major Burbrink was commander of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWATT) for 10 years.
Major Burbrink has graduated from the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course and the FBI National Academy.
