Major Don Burbrink is currently assigned as the Commander of the Sixth Division.
He began his law enforcement career with the Louisville Division of Police (LPD) in March 1977. He was Officer of the Year in 1981 and has received the Medal of Valor.
While a member of the LPD, Burbrink served in the former First, Second and Fourth Districts, Intelligence, Homicide, Fraud, Internal Affairs and Narcotics. After merger, he served in the Crimes Against Children Section (CACS), the Criminal Investigation Section (CIS), Narcotics and Training.
Major Burbrink was commander of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team for 10 years.
Major Burbrink graduated from the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course and the FBI National Academy.
