LMPD Promotes Officers
(August 12, 2004) -- Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson administered the oath of office today to ten Louisville Metro Police Department officers to the rank of sergeant.
Recalling his service as a sergeant in the United States Army, Mayor Abramson stressed the importance of their new roles as managers. "As front line supervisors, the sergeants are critical to providing the citizens of Louisville with the best possible service."
Chief Robert White wholeheartedly agrees. "Critical to our success will be management's ability to lead and that is equally true for the rank of sergeant because sergeants are the ones closed to the rank and file who we count on to deliver our meesage, " he said. "I believe the men and women of our department will follow if they clearly understand our vision and feel valued and respected."
The ten officers promoted to rank of sergeant are:
John (Rick) Polin
James (Barry) Seidle
