Bring Peace Home 2011
Monday October 24, 2011
On October 26, 2011, a family violence prevention workshop will be held at Walnut Street Baptist Church. Bring Peace Home is the second in a series of family-oriented workshops.
Bring Peace Home is designed to connect citizens with information before they become victims. A few of the areas that will be highlighted are:
Identifying the dynamics of family violence
Identifying services and resources provided by non-profit organizations within our community
Identifying services available through Metro Government
Explaining family and domestic violence court system procedures and providing information
No one in our community should have to become a victim to learn about the services available to them.
Come join us on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, beginning at 6 pm, at Walnut Street Baptist Church (1101 S. 3rd Street) to learn more.
The LMPD, in cooperation with the Mayor's Office, the Louisville Metro Police Foundation, the Center for Women and Families, the University of Louisville and other local organizations, will present the second in a series of neighborhood meetings on education to prevent family violence.
Special guests, University of Louisville coaches Jeff Walz and Charlie Strong, are donating their time and players to assist with the supervision of a children's area so that parents are free to learn and explore without interruption. Sponsors and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and light snacks will be provided. This indoor event will provide a workshop presentation, information stations, autographs, give-aways, refreshments and a kid's area with activities and face painting.
