LMPD Adds 27 New Officers

On Friday, January 14, 2011, the Louisville Metro Police Department had 27 recruits graduate. Mayor Greg Fischer and Chief Robert C. White gave the oath of office to the recruits, adding 27 new officers to its ranks. The graduation ceremony for the Metro Academy Class (MAC 19) took place at 10 am at Memorial Auditorium (970 South Fourth Street).
The graduating class was a varied group with 67% holding college degrees and 26% having served in the U.S. Military. One recruit served as the Chief of Police for the Bloomfield, KY Police Department as well as an International Police Advisor, who trained Iraqi police officers. Others have served our country through deployments to Bosnia and Afghanistan. In November 2010, the recruits of MAC 19 spent eight (8) days at the Rumpke Landfill in Medora, IN assisting LMPD's Homicide Unit in searching for the remains of a homicide victim.
