Thursday October 19, 2006
MetroTV, Louisville’s government-access television channel, will broadcast several debates and forums during the two weeks leading up to the Nov. 7 election, in order to help educate citizens about candidates running for local offices.
In all, MetroTV will carry 128 hours of commercial-free coverage of debates and forums featuring candidates for mayor, Metro Council and judicial races. All the debates and forums were previously taped and will be aired several times in a variety of time slots, beginning Monday, Oct. 23 and running through Sunday, Nov. 5.
MetroTV is found on Insight channel 25. Click here for a complete schedule of candidate coverage.
All programs have been balanced for equal airtime during different times of the day, both on weekdays and weekends. During the week of October 30, election programming will be in increased rotation. The weekend of November 4-5 will be almost exclusively dedicated to election programming.
In the last three years, MetroTV has received 13 national and regional awards for excellence in local programming.
