Louisville MetroTV Named Among Country’s Best
Channel recognized for overall excellence
LOUISVILLE (July 23, 2009) – Louisville MetroTV has been named the best government access channel in the country for overall excellence in programming by the Alliance for Community Media – the highest award given by the organization.
This is the sixth consecutive year that MetroTV has received national-awards for programming, and the fifth consecutive year being recognized for Overall Excellence in Government Programming. MetroTV has received 37 awards for local government programming since merger.
“We are excited to receive this recognition for the quality programming about our government and hometown,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said. “MetroTV is a means for us to provide information to residents about their hometown and to encourage people to become more engaged in their local government.”
MetroTV has also been named a finalist in the National Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisor’s (NATOA) Government Programming Awards. MetroTV is a finalist in the Overall Excellence in Government Programming Category, recognizing MetroTV as one of the top local government channels in the country for its overall programming. MetroTV’s “Louisville: A City of Possibilities” video is also a finalist in the Promotion of a City/County category.
