What is a NAP?
What is the Neighborhood Assessment Project (NAP)?
The Department of Neighborhoods through the Community Outreach division will initiate, through contracts and working with other city departments, the Neighborhood Assessment process. These Assessments provide a defining snapshot of a respective neighborhood's demographic, economic and land use composition for better understanding of area strengths and challenges. The process of undertaking the Assessments is an effort that pools the collective knowledge of residents, various participating organizations and government planners into a common understanding of concerns and forming a basis for working together in how best to develop neighborhood-based strategies with set priorities and investment goals.

The NAP process allows neighborhood associations and suburban cities the opportunity to:
- Review 200 Census information on the neighborhood/city
- Rate the status of the neighborhood through surveys
- Discuss the neighborhoods strengths and weaknesses
- Set short and long term goals for the association
- Create an action matrix so they can reach the long and short term goals
