Next West Louisville Bus Tour: Thursday, September 4, West Louisville bus tours are hosted by the West Louisville Economic Alliance Advisory Committee. Each 90-minute bus tour exposes business executives, investors, developers and other centers of influence to the features that make West Louisville unique and economically viable. To reserve your seat on the September 4 West Louisville bus tour, contact April Jones via email or via phone at 502.574.1569. The tour departs from the Nia Center (2900 W. Broadway) at 9 a.m. and concludes at 10:30 a.m.
- Highland Park Missionary Baptist Church located at 3700 Shanks Ln. will be having their Annual Community Day on September 6th 2008 10-5. This event has food, fun, fellowship and provides services to our members and community regarding health, education, safety etc.
- Rohm and Haas Company is sponsoring a poster contest (deadling for entry is September 26th), to celebrate National Chemistry Week. This year's theme is "Having A Ball With Chemistry." District 12 Dialogue Sept 16 at 7pm located at St. Paul Catholic Church (6901 Dixie Hwy). Guest speaker will be Vincent Smith, PRP Fire Chief.

Oak Lea Neighborhood Association fourth introductory meeting Sept 18 at 7pm located at the Southwest Government Center.

Riverview Park Boat Cruise aboard The Spirit of Jefferson. The two cruises will take place on Sunday, September 14th, 2008 from 1 pm to 5 pm. The first cruise will begin at 1:30 pm and the second will be leave at 4:00 pm. You may bring a picnic lunch but Homeland Security restricts coolers and beverages of any kind. Cash concessions and a bar will be available on board. Tickets are on a first come first serve basis and may be reserved through the office at 574-3459. There is a 6 ticket limit per family or person and each person is requested to bring 2 items for the Southwest Community Ministries food closet.

Riverside, The Farnsley-Moreman Landing archeology program unveiling findings Riverside's archaeology program has been going strong since 1995. Over the years, a number of fascinating discoveries have been made about this important "Southwest Treasure." Join us for a presentation of those findings by Jay Stottman of the Kentucky Archaeological Survey on Tuesday, September 23 at 7 p.m. at the Riverside Visitors Center. The presentation is free, but reservations are recommended. This event is held in conjunction with the Southwest Regional Library as part of the "Southwest Treasures" program in September and October. Back to School kickoff party at Sun Valley Community Center - hosting a “Back to School” bash for middle school aged children on Friday, September 26, from 7-9 p.m. The fun will include a bean bag tournament, ping pong, and dance contest. The cost is $3 per student.

Greenfield Neighborhood Association will host the third introductory meeting at 8201 Greenwood Rd on Sept. 30th from 7:00pm until 8:30pm.

Annual “Middle School Connection” during the month of October. The program involves linking every seventh grade student in the Jefferson County Public Schools with an adult from the community. There are many different dates and times available for any school of your choice. The program involves a one (1) hour conference with seventh grade students discussing: the importance of coming to school, staying in school, and doing well in school, high school choices, career interests and how adults use reading, writing and math in all aspects of life.
