Mayor’s Community Conversation
These monthly meetings are a place for citizens to build strong relationships with Mayor Jerry Abramson, Louisville Metro department directors and Council members. The Mayor’s Community Conversations (MCC) is held at 6:30 p.m. on the 3rd Monday of each month except December. Free. Contact: MetroCall at 311 or 574-5000

Neighborhood LINK
Neighborhood Link is a national program that provides free websites for not-for-profit associations. The Louisville Metro Department of Neighborhoods offers training assistance to neighborhoods so they can establish and maintain their free website. The workshop is free, but registration is required due to limited computer terminals. Contact: MetroCall at 311 or 574-5000

Congratulations to Melissa Mershon!
Melissa is this year's Tower Award winner in the category of Government & Law. Now in its 13th year, the Tower Awards dinner is an annual mission-driven event that recognizes the accomplishments and community service of remarkable women and one organization who provide our students and the community with worthy role models. The Tower Awards dinner is Pres’ largest fundraiser and its proceeds help to provide financial assistance for eligible students.  Presentation Academy will honor recipients of its 2008 Tower Awards for Women Leaders during its annual awards dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 in the Ballroom of the Louisville Marriott Downtown, 280 W. Jefferson Street. A silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner and the awards ceremony following at 7 p.m. (all times EDT). Tickets may be purchased for $100 each, or $1,000 for a table of 10. Mayor’s Good Neighbor Award

Mayor Jerry Abramson believes that we build our community one neighbor at a time. To encourage good citizenship and individual responsibly, Louisville Metro Department of Neighborhoods Community Outreach division will hold an awards program at this year's Neighborhood Summit to salute individuals who exemplify what it means to be a good neighbor. Light Up Louisville
Where the REAL
Santa Claus is the star of the show. More than 80,000 people gather to enjoy this spectacular, free holiday kick-off event. Multiple entertainment stages, Christmas Tree lighting, an international holiday tree showcase, a craft and vendor village, children’s activities, a Winter Wonderland Parade and much more. Brightside Waste Management of KY Fall Compost Sale
Brightside/Waste Management of Kentucky fall compost fundraiser will take place Oct. 11, 18 & 25 from 8:00am-2pm at the Outer Loop Landfill located at 2673 Outer Loop. Prices will be $2.50 per bag and $30 per scoop. Proceeds from the sale benefit Brightside's beautification and environmental stewardship programs. Brightside members receive one free bag of compost. Make a Difference This Fall!
Register your family, friends, employer, place of worship, suburban city, organization or school for Brightside’s Community-Wide Cleanup October 25th. Last spring, over 6,000 volunteers cleared 32 tons of trash from streets, sidewalks and green spaces. Volunteers receive free bags and gloves.

Groups registering by October 1st also receive FREE T-Shirts. Groups select their own cleanup site and Brightside coordinates trash collection with our partners at Metro Solid Waste Management.

All pre-registered groups are invited to join Mayor Jerry E. Abramson for the Brightside Volunteer Celebration and Supply Pick-Up on Saturday, October 11, at Louisville Slugger Field at 9:30a.m. At least one representative from your group must come to the event to pick up supplies.  Register today at www.brightsideinc.org.
