A Romantic Valentine's Day Awaits at Jefferson Memorial Forest

Friday February 1, 2008

A perfect romantic Valentine’s Day evening awaits February 14 at Jefferson Memorial Forest. For only $20, couples will be treated to a romantic candle-lit hike that ends with a view of downtown Louisville’s lights from the scenic Manor House

Following the hike, couples will also enjoy a roaring fire, hot drinks and desserts within the Manor House. Jefferson Memorial Forest is located near Fairdale, just 15 minutes from downtown Louisville. At nearly 6,200 acres, Jefferson Memorial Forest is the largest urban forest within a municipal setting in the United States. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. and is expected to wind up by 10 p.m.

“The natural beauty of Jefferson Memorial Forest is a great fit with Valentine’s Day,” said Tonya Swan, public education coordinator at Jefferson Memorial Forest. “Couples can have a romantic evening by taking a stroll through the grounds, then relaxing in front of the fire.”

The Forest is located off the Gene Snyder Freeway and Interstate 65 at 11311 Mitchell Hill Road. The fee for this unforgettable evening is only $20. Reservations and payments must be made by February 11.
