For Immediate release:
Louisville Metro Council
The Green Triangle, the 9th District’s sustainability initiative, is looking for volunteers who are interested in greening their community through two new teams focused on creating a supportive green network and waste/recycling. Both of the teams will work to develop and implement strategies to meet goals chosen from community input.
The Network Goal Team will create a supportive network as a tool that connects people and ideas to each other, empowering individuals, businesses, and organizations to be more environmentally sustainable in their thoughts and actions. The Waste/Recycling Goal Team will create a universal access system for recycling and repurposing in the 9th District, to reduce the overall waste output of the District.
“If you are a resident or business owner in the 9th District and are interested in creating a healthy, vibrant and green community, I urge you to learn more about the Green Triangle and apply for one of the new Goal Teams,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh. “We are looking for people with creative ideas to improve sustainability in our community.”
Both Goal Teams will help realize the vision of the Green Triangle:
Imagine Individuals, Businesses and Government working together to create a 9th District of:
· Green spaces for people to connect with nature and each other;
· Green options for transportation; and
· Green thinking that promotes the conservation of resources and our small neighborhood feel.
“Many groups and individuals in the 9th District have long been involved in sustainability efforts. This enthusiasm has extended to the work of the Green Triangle, including over 400 responses to the Green Triangle survey, which helped create the vision and goals for the initiative,” said Ward-Pugh, “We know that government cannot create green solutions alone, therefore involvement from residents and businesses is key in creating a greener future.”
Applications for the Goal Teams are due on November 15, 2011. Contact Councilwoman Ward-Pugh’s office at 574-1109 or email email@example.com to obtain an application. Applications can also be found on the Green Triangle website at www.mygreentriangle.com.
