Louisville – Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh and United Crescent Hill Ministries will once again partner with the Louisville Asset Building Coalition (LABC) to bring four special VITA mobile tax assistance clinics on Fridays in District 9 in February and March.
“This will be our fourth year to assist LABC in helping low income and senior citizens in the district with a free service for those who qualify,” says Ward-Pugh. “These mobile operations have always been a great help to many people over the years and that is why we are offering that assistance again.”
Four VITA mobile events will be held at United Crescent Hill Ministries (UCHM), 150 S. State Street on the following Fridays; February 14th, February 28th, March 14th and March 28th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm by appointment only.
Volunteers will provide FREE tax preparation for individuals and families who make $52,000 or less in Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) per year. If you received income from the sale of your home, own rental property OR received $10,000 in cash in self-employment and $5,000 in expenses you are not eligible for this FREE tax service.
“The goal of this program is to not only help low income families but it also returns money to our community and I want to thank all the VITA volunteers who are helping us out this year.” says Ward-Pugh.
While the mobile VITA operations are located in District 9, they are open to anyone who qualifies.
The Friday FREE tax preparation in February and March will be offered by appointment only – please contact Councilwoman Ward-Pugh’s office at 574-1109 to make an appointment.
Do you like to self-file your taxes? If you made less than $58,000 in AGI in 2013 you may be eligible to use Turbo Tax or My Free Taxes to self-file. Please visit the Louisville Asset Building Coalition’s website http://labcservices.org/, for links to those options.
