First Annual Faith Walk Scheduled

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 18, 2006) The Louisville Metro Health Department’s Office of Faith and Health is encouraging people of all faiths to walk their way to a healthier mind, body and spirit by participating in the first annual Faith Walk. The walk will be held Saturday, October 28 and begin at Waterfront Park. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:00 a.m. The walk will end at Louisville Metro Health Department headquarters, 400 E. Gray St., where participants will benefit from health screenings, information on healthier living, and free healthy refreshments.
“When it comes to living longer, healthier lives, we all share the same beliefs,” said Dr. Adewale Troutman, director of the Louisville Metro Health Department. “The first annual Faith Walk is a way for people of all faiths to demonstrate their belief in a healthier living, one step at a time.”
In addition to the Louisville Metro Health Department, the 2006 Faith Walk is sponsored by the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement, Jewish & St. Mary’s Healthcare, Passport Health Plan, Norton Healthcare’s Church and Health Ministries and Northwest Area Health Education Centers.
