Work To Restore 7th Street Scheduled To Begin
Friday October 14, 2011
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 13, 2011) – Work to restore 7th Street between Washington Street and River Road, at the site of the former Museum Plaza project, is scheduled to begin next Wednesday, October 19th.
Museum Plaza developers have been coordinating with Metro Public Works officials on a plan to restore the site of the planned skyscraper and the surrounding roadway.
The developers’ crews will complete and fund the work, which includes restoring changes to 7th Street and grading and clearing two construction sites.
The Science Center parking lot, which has been used as a construction staging area, will also be returned to service.
Weather-permitting, the work is estimated to be completed in six weeks.
Museum Plaza developers broke ground on the 61-story skyscraper in October 2007. The project was cancelled in August due to a lack of funding.
