M. Gabriela Alcalde Elected Board of Health Vice-Chair

The Louisville Board of Health has elected M. Gabriela Alcalde as its vice-chair.
Alcalde currently works as an independent public health consultant providing research, writing, training and leadership on various policy, public health, and community engagement issues. She is completing a DrPH in Public Health Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and holds a Master in Public Health from Boston University. She was born and raised in Lima, Peru and lives in Louisville with her family.
“Gabriela is a public health leader who brings a wealth of experience in the government, nonprofit, academic, and community sectors to the Board of Health,” said Louisville Board chair William Altman. “We are fortunate to have her expertise and dedication.”
The mission of the Board of Health is to act as an independent voice to promote and protect equitable physical, mental, and environmental health in the Louisville community through advocacy, education, regulation, and collaboration with public and private entities.
