BACnc for Propionaldehyde

Tuesday September 30, 2008

There is now an entry in IRIS for propionaldehyde, CAS 123-38-6, so the BACnc is now 8 µg/m3 and the de minimis values are 4.3 pounds per hour and 3,840 pounds per year. The old values of 4 µg/m3 and 2.2 pounds per day and 1,920 pounds per year should no longer be used.

Note, Regulation 5.21 section 4.12 states, “If a benchmark ambient concentration established pursuant to Regulation 5.20 for a TAC becomes less stringent, the owner or operator may request that an emission standard based upon the more stringent benchmark ambient concentration be revised to reflect compliance with the EA goals based upon the revised benchmark ambient concentration. The District may approve the request and revise the emission standard, provided that the revision complies with all other applicable requirements and the effectiveness of an existing emissions control measure is not reduced or eliminated.”

See the new BAC list and a companion document that lists the additions and changes made in 2007 and 2008.
