Small Business Loans Awarded

Thursday May 29, 2008

Beechmont is getting a coffee shop and Park DuValle is receiving a beauty salon and spa, thanks in part to small business loans awarded today by Louisville Metro Government.

Sunergos Coffee will open at 306-308 Woodlawn Avenue. Owners Matthew Huested and Brian Miller received a $50,000 forgivable loan from the Louisville Metropolitan Business Development Corp.

Sunergos sells coffee to wholesalers, and the Beechmont store will be its second retail location.

Color Purple Salon and Spa will open at 2930 Dr. Williams Drive. Owner Rosha Matthews received a $17,700 low-interest loan to help start the business.

“Beechmont has long wanted, and deserved, a coffee shop -- and now they’re getting one,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said. “And Park DuValle is getting a great amenity for its residents, with Color Purple Salon. These two small businesses will add to the vibrancy of their neighborhoods.”
