Thursday October 20, 2011

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 20, 2011 )
– Autumn is the season of falling leaves and that means lots of raking and bagging!

Citizens will have the opportunity to drop off their loose leaves at the free Autumn Leaf Drop-off Site beginning October 31st -- December 3rd. The site is open Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be closed Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving.

The drop-off site is located at Iroquois Park, 5216 New Cut Road. Signs will direct drivers entering the park to the site.

Only loose leaves will be accepted. Citizens must empty bags and dispose of them off-site.

The leaf drop-off service is provided through Metro Public Works and Metro Parks. The leaves are turned into compost and used for mulching projects throughout Louisville.
