Louisville – Since 1971, Pride Inc. has hosted a party for all children in Metro Louisville and that tradition will continue on Saturday, December 16th.
“This has become, like so many traditions, something for children to look forward each year,” says Councilman David Tandy (D) 4.
Tandy will join other elected officials in playing host to the Christmas party at Jay’s Place Bingo Hall, 2901 Seventh Street Road. The party will get underway from 8:00am to 11:00am. The party is free to children ages 1-12. They must be accompanied by an adult.
“We owe a great deal of thanks to Pride Inc for keeping the spirit of the holiday alive for those children who are less fortunate and may not have a chance to have a nice party this year,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D) 2.
Tandy and Shanklin have helped defray the cost of the holiday party. Other council members who have donated funds to the effort include Leonard Watkins (D) 1, Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3, Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5, George Unseld (D) 6, George Melton (D) 15 and Dan Johnson (D) 21. The donations were made from Council members Neighborhoods Development Funds.
Other elected officials included Congressman-elect John Yarmuth and Kentucky Supreme Court Justice William McAnulty will also be on hand.
The Christmas party will offer entertainment and holiday presents to the children of the area. There will be prize giveaways as well. Food and drinks will also be provided for the party.
