Two times a year, volunteers from all over Southwest Jefferson County get together and make an effort to keep their community clean.
Homeowners, students and business people will share one thing in common because of their efforts: pride.
“The Southwest Pride Community Clean up is a great way for the community to come together for a good cause,” says Councilman Rick Blackwell (D) 12. “It is a joy to work side by side with people who want to make this area a great place to live.”
The Pleasure Ridge Park Area Business Association will kick off the Southwest Pride Community Cleanup on Saturday, March 29th from 9:00 am to 12:00am. Volunteers will meet at GFS Marketplace, 7438 Dixie Highway and then break into various groups for the clean up.
“These folks do a great job of knowing what areas need to be cleaned up in PRP, Valley Station and Shively,” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14. “We have always had a great turn out of people who want to do their part and I appreciate their help.”
All volunteers will be given a t-shirt, gloves, tools and trash bags for the clean up. After the event, an appreciate luncheon will be held at the new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, 5360 Dixie Highway. Those wearing a clean up t-shirt will be treated to a live band and door prizes along with the free lunch.
