Cultural Pass Drawing Set to Begin

Monday August 18, 2014

Lion King Broadway musical tickets & Bats game are among the top prizes

Children who stamped their Cultural Pass at eight or more locations this summer are eligible for a drawing for numerous prizes!

Four tickets to the Lion King Broadway musical (donated by Louisville Theatrical Associations –Broadway Louisville) and watching a Louisville Bats baseball game from the Mayor’s box at Slugger Field are the two grand prizes. Many other prizes are included in the drawing.

To become eligible, Cultural Pass participants need to turn their passes in to their local library branch or Metro Parks Community Center no later than August 25. The drawing will take place that week and winners will be notified immediately.

The passes are the result of a joint initiative to promote art and cultural education in Louisville and prevent summer learning loss. The pass allowed children (ages 0 through college) from Louisville free access to an array of attractions including the Kentucky Derby Museum, Bernheim Arboretum and many other locations.

“This program is a great example of how Louisville works together to inspire our future leaders,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “Over 50,000 passes were given out and the majority of users visited our educational attractions for the first time. It’s a very creative way to keep kids engaged and learning throughout the summer and it provided some good experiences to share with their fellow classmates now that school has started.”
