With summer just around the corner, the pool at Nelson Hornbeck Park is trying to pull off a makeover and volunteers are needed to make sure that happens.
“Anyone who knows how to hold a paint brush is qualified to help us,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13). “We will supply the paint; all we ask is just a couple of hours of someone’s time.”
The Hornbeck Pool painting Party is set for Saturday, May 16th from 8:00am to 11:00am. The park is located at 709 Fairdale Road.
Councilwoman Welch is a funding partner in the makeover with Metro Parks. Volunteers will be able to paint inside or outside of the pool house. The event is ongoing for this Saturday come rain or shine.
“We have many groups that have already pitched in with some needed Spring cleaning around the Park,” says Welch. “The painting party is another way any group or individual can get involved with the community. From there you can take in Forest Fest at the Jefferson Memorial Forest ”
Free breakfast will be available while it lasts. Volunteers will get free pool passes, t-shirts and water bottles.
