Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge is encouraging residents of District 3 to take time to learn how to improve their health by visiting the first Healthy Lifestyle Fair on Saturday, August 30, 2008.
“Many times, we put off asking questions about our health because we are just too busy” says Woolridge, who chairs the Metro Council’s Health and Human Needs Committee. “The Healthy Lifestyle Fair is a chance to talk with experts about everything from high blood pressure to preventing a heart attack. You can also find out if you are at risk for a heart attack.”
The Healthy Lifestyle Fair runs from 10:00 am to 2:00pm at the All For You Flea Market Mall located at 2401-2501 Millers Lane in the MLC Storage and Workshop Complex, Warehouse #2. This is location between Cane Run Road and Dixie Highway.
A variety of free screenings and health information is the focus of the Fair. Baptist East Hospital will provide blood pressure and glucose testing. The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association will also be in attendance with information on how to decrease the chance of a serious heart problem by doing things the healthy way.
Other medical professionals will be on hand to answer questions and offer tips for adults and children.
“This Fair is another way we can promote a healthy life style,” says Woolridge. “I hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity.”
