It is a time when family and friends gather over turkey, dressing and cranberries. Some Metro Council members will continue a holiday event to ensure area senior citizens are not alone by hosting a special Thanksgiving celebration.

Eight Metro Council members will host the annual Willie B. Bright Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, November 22nd.

“Councilman Bright loved this community and he would want to make sure everyone had a chance to be around friends and family for the holiday,” says Councilman David Tandy (D) 4. “So, I am happy to make sure this tradition continues.”

Join Tandy in hosting the dinner are Judith Green (D) 1, Barbara Shanklin (D) 2, Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3, Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5, George Unseld (D) 6 and Dan Johnson (D) 21.

PRIDE Inc. is also a sponsor of the free dinner for persons age 55 and older. It will get underway at the Presbyterian Community Center, 701 S. Hancock Street from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

Free transportation from TARC will be provided from low income housing facilities in the Metro area for those who would like to attend the dinner.
