Southwest Pride Clean Up Day set for Saturday, October 27th

Hundreds of volunteers are expected to tackle trash and litter along Dixie Highway and Valley Station when Southwest Pride Clean up Day gets underway this weekend.
"People out here in the Southwest have always taken pride in their community and many like pitching in to help keep it clean," says Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14."It should be a great day."
Volunteers are set to gather at GFS Marketplace, 7483 Dixie Highway and the parking lot of Valley Station High School at 8:00am. Working with Brightside, the Pleasure Ridge Park Business Association will provide volunteers with maps, garbage bags, gloves and safety vest for the cleanup which will be underway until 12:00pm.
"We had a great turn out in the spring," says Metro Council President Rick Blackwell (D). "We have had great participation from schools and civic groups and people who live in the area who always are dedicated to making this community a nice place to live."
Refreshments will also be available through out the morning.
