For more than 50 years, Farnsley Park has been a fun and relaxing place for residents of the Bon Air Neighborhood. This Friday, July 24th, the Park will show off some of its newest improvements which include a spray park and walking track.
“I want to invite everyone to come out and see how this park continues to meet the needs of the people who live around it,” says Councilman Brent Ackerson (D-26). “A great many people have worked hard to see this park continue to be the special place that it is.”
A special ceremony to unveil the new spray park, walking course and improvements to the tennis court will get underway at 2:00pm. Farnsley Park is located at Commander Drive and Del Rio Place.
Improvements began after former Councilwoman Ellen Call began talking with residents about improvements to the Park. The work continued through 2008 and 2009 with continued funding from Councilman Ackerson..
“Metro Parks has done a wonderful job in following through with requests of the neighbors and we are pleased with the results,” said Ackerson.
The almost five acre park was created by the city in 1955.
