It’s a chance to run with Santa, take a trolley ride or tour historic homes when “Olde Tyme Christmas on Frankfort Avenue” returns to mark the holiday season. It is also a chance to help an organization that helps others in need.
“The Crescent Hill and Frankfort Avenue area always takes great pride in showcasing this special time of year,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9). “For joggers, we have a run and for dog lovers, some special fun. For everyone in between, it’s a chance to enjoy a nice Saturday in December.”
The “Olde Tyme Christmas on Frankfort Avenue” will get underway from 9:00 am to 8:00pm.
The first event of the day, the 13th Annual Santa Sprint and Stroll will benefit the United Crescent Hill Ministries.
“The Ministries do very good work all year round,” says Ward- Pugh. “This holiday season, it is expected that more people will ask for assistance because of the current economic times. This is one way of helping out.”
The Celebration will also feature a dogs walk, and free trolley and horse tram rides. Councilwoman Ward-Pugh will also present this year’s Good Neighbor awards in front of Margaret’s Consignment, 2700 Frankfort Avenue at 2:00pm..
The Historic Peterson-Dumesnil House will also set the scene of Christmas from years past with its 7th Annual Candlelight Tour.
“If you need a break from shopping and just want to have some fun, I encourage you and your family to come visit Frankfort Avenue,” says Ward-Pugh. “You will see a community that takes pride in its history and cares for other at this important time of year.
