Spring Break provides plenty of options for fun and relaxation while school is out, but some students will have a chance to think about their future at a special Career Day on Wednesday, April 11th.
“I want to provide an opportunity for some young people to learn about different professions while they are off from school,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D) 2.
Shanklin will sponsor a Career Day at the Newburg Community Center on April 11th. It will be held from 11:00am until 1:30pm. The Center is located at 4810 Exeter Avenue, off of East Indian Trail.
Among those speaking at the Career Day: District Court Judge Joan “Toni” Stringer, Adrian Shanklin, President of the African American Forum at General Electric, Major J.T. Smith of the Louisville Metro Police Department, Captain Ronel Brown and Major Charles Mucker of the Louisville Fire Department, Craig Shanklin of UPS and local artist, Beverly Sweeney.
“We are fortunate to have professionals like these who are willing to come out and talk to kids about career that make a difference in people’s lives,” said Shanklin.
