Families to Receive Labor Day Weekend Discount Through Metro Parks Golf

Thursday August 22, 2013

In order to encourage local families to visit their municipally-owned golf courses, Metro Parks is offering an affordable family golfing package at its nine golf courses during the Labor Day Weekend.

For only $20, a family of up to four members can play nine holes at any Metro Parks course. The $20 includes greens and cart fees, and families can take advantage of the deal after 4:30 p.m. on three days: Saturday, August 31, Sunday, September 1 and Monday, September 2.

“This is an inexpensive way for parents to introduce their kids to the game of golf,” said Metro Parks Director Mike Heitz. “Families spend a lot of time together during Labor Day weekend, and there’s no better place to do that than at one of our great public courses.”

Metro Parks golf courses are open from daylight to dark seven days a week, and each course has a fully stocked pro shop. Private lessons are available from a PGA Professional at each clubhouse. Metro Parks operates 9-hole golf courses in Cherokee Park and Crescent Hill Park, along with Waverly Park’s Bobby Nichols Golf Course. There are 18-hole courses in Iroquois Park, Long Run Park, Seneca Park, Shawnee Park, Sun Valley Park and Charlie Vettiner Park. The courses at Long Run and Shawnee also host the three-hole First Tee Golf Academy for youth golf.
