Louisville – Councilman David Tandy (D-4) has officially welcomed a very well-known group to Downtown Louisville as it opens new headquarters and continues its non-profit work in Kentucky, Tennessee, Southern Indiana and West Virginia.
“It is an honor to welcome the Volunteers of America Kentucky as they bring their executive offices to Fourth Street,” said Councilman David Tandy (D-4) who represents the Downtown Area. “The VOA has touched so many lives with its programs and I am sure they will have a wonderful impact in the downtown area.”
Tandy joined VOA Executives and other government officials for the formal grand opening of the VOA Kentucky’s new headquarters at the corner of Fourth Street and Chestnut Street. The group is housed in the newly renovated Guthrie Coke Building.
“This facility continues our focus to renovate and revitalize Fourth Street,” says Tandy. “Construction is underway on a new hotel with in view of the VOA. Little by little, new life is emerging on Fourth Street from Main Street to Broadway.”
Volunteers of America of Kentucky is a fully accredited provider of more than 30 programs across Kentucky, Tennessee, Southern Indiana, and West Virginia, with an annual budget of $30 million. The new facility will house some 30 executives and staff of the organization.
“While this is a great day for our downtown and economic development, we must not forget the good work the VOA and the helping hand it extends to so many in our community and our states and beyond,” says Tandy.
