Monday November 25, 2013

Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing will host an “Old-Fashioned Family Holiday Festival” on December 7, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This community holiday celebration will include photo opportunities with Santa—arriving by horse-drawn carriage at 2:30 p.m., holiday craft activities for children, and musical performances by area church and school choirs. Other featured activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, and a silent auction of holiday wreaths.

Families can stroll through dozens of colorful illuminated holiday scenes surrounding the Visitors Center, and Riverside’s Museum Store will be open, offering unique local holiday gift items.

The circa 1837 Farnsley-Moremen House will be decorated for the season in an historically authentic fashion, with volunteers in period costume leading free tours of the home from 2 p.m. through 5 p.m.

There is no admission fee for the event and activities are free. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be available for purchase.

The “Old-Fashioned Family Holiday Festival” is co-sponsored by the Valley Station Area Business Association, the Pleasure Ridge Park Area Business Association, Cemex, LG&E, Southwest Regional Library, Leanhart Plumbing and Dignity Memorial. Proceeds from wreath auction and refreshment sales will benefit Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, Inc.
