Louisville – In an effort to help keep the Newburg and Norfolk communities clean, Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D) 2 is sponsoring a Community Junk Drop Off weekend starting Saturday October 14th.
“This is a chance for residents of the Newburg area to clean out their yards and garages of things not normally accepted by waste haulers,” said Shanklin. “We are offering this to everyone in the community.”
Between the hours of 12:00pm and 5:00pm, junk can be dropped off at the Newburg Community Center free of charge. The Center is located at 4810 Exeter Avenue.
If anyone misses the Saturday drop off, another will be held on Sunday October 15th at the Outer Loop Landfill located at 2673 Outer Loop from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
“This is a good time for neighbors to help each other clean up their yards and help make our community a nice place to live,” said Shanklin.
Among the items that will be accepted at the junk drop off, appliances, household junk, tires and other large items.
Items not accepted include yard waste, such as grass, limbs and leaves. Other items not accepted include hazardous liquids, paint and commercial trash.
Materials such as paints that are not accepted at the drop off can be taken to the Metro Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 7501 Grade Lane.
