On September 11th, voters in four precincts of District 5 will decide if alcohol should be sold in their neighborhoods.
“We want everyone to be aware of how important this vote is,” says Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5.
The latest information on the special wet-dry vote will be the focus of a District 5 Community Meeting on Tuesday, September 4th hosted by Hamilton.
“This is an important meeting to rally those who support our effort to make four precincts in the district dry,” says Hamilton. “It will be one week before the election and this is a chance to find out what needs to be done to spread the word and get voters to the polls.”
The meeting will take place at the Shawnee Golf Course Clubhouse, 460 Northwestern Parkway. It will start at 6:30pm.
On June 15th, Hamilton, community leaders, ministers and resident turned in petitions calling for the special vote to the Jefferson County Board of Elections. The signatures were certified and the special wet-dry vote wads set for precincts N104, N105, N107 and N109.
Also at the Community meeting, representatives of other Metro Government agencies will be available to address any problem or concern.
