Metro Animal Services Holds Three-Day Adoption Event Following Floods
Wednesday August 12, 2009
Folowing the recent floods that forced the evacutation of 550 dogs and cats, Louisville Metro Animal Services is holding an adoption fair and offering deep discounts to people wanting pets.
Beginning Thursday and running through Saturday, people will receive 30 percent off adoption fees for animals who were affected by the flood. Anyone who volunteered or donated an item to Animal Services during the flood rescue and clean-up, or anyone who brings in an item to donate this weekend, is eligible for an additional 20 percent off adoption fees – for a total of 50 percent off.
“We are trying to adopt as many animals as possible this weekend,” said Jackie Gulbe, a spokeswoman for Animal Services. “This will be a win-win for everyone — families get pets at a discount and animals get new homes.”
“The goal is to adopt 100 animals by Saturday”, said Dr. Gilles Meloche, director of Metro Animal Services. Meloche noted that it is important to give all of the animals that were involved in the flood and not claimed by their owner a chance to be adopted.
Metro Animal Services is located at 3705 Manslick Road.
